Whooping Cough cases on the Rise

By Bob Eccles

Ann Arbor, MI – The Washtenaw County Public Health department says an outbreak of whooping cough continues to spread.
In the last six weeks, 19 confirmed and probable cases have been seen in the county. Oakland and Livingston counties have also reported cases of the infection.
Whooping cough can cause severe illness, especially in infants.
The Medical Director for Washtenaw County's Public Health department, Dr. Stan Reedy, says one of the keys to stopping the outbreak is to make sure kids are up to date on their vaccinations.
