About two dozen Eastern Michigan University students gathered to discuss politics and policy with Ypsilanti Mayor Amanda Edmonds.
Students asked Edmonds about gentrification, food issues, alternative energy, and environmental issues with the Huron River. Steven Kwasny is with EMU's College Democrats and one of the event organizers.
"It is interesting and easy to get students engaged into politics. But at the same time, can it be a productive conversations? Could it get away from the out of control rhetoric that we can have?"
Kwasny says the group is also organizing a public debate on April 26th with all candidates running for the 54th District.
