Ypsilanti To Pay Respects To Middle School Student Today

The Ypsilanti community will gather this afternoon to remember a 14 year-old middle school student who died recently on school property.

Xavier Small will be remembered in aspecial gathering this afternoon at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center ballroom in Ypsilanti.

The 14 year-old was found dead outside the WashtenawInternational Middle School, where he was an eighth grader on June 1st.  Ypsilanti police have been investigating exactly what happened, but no information has been released.

The community is invited to the memorial, which is scheduled from 4 PM until 6 PM today to remember the teen, whose family describes as dependable, strong, and helpful.

Ypsilanti Community Schools superintendent Dr. BenjaminEdmondson is expected to make a few remarks at the service.
