Ypsilanti Community Schools has decided to move forward with getting more information on the possibility of demolishing vacant school buildings.
The district has about six vacant buildings and it could cost around $250,000 to demolish each one of them. Doctor Benjamin Edmondson is the district's superintendent.
"Overall, with our vacant buildings, we're spending roughly half a million dollars on a number of buildings that don't have students in them."
The district does not want to use any of its general funds for the demolitions, so it's considering federal and state grants for the project.
