1st Friday Focus on the Environment

A study on food insecurity by the University of Michigan is underway.  The study is directed by  Dr. Dorceta Taylor, professor of environmental sociology at the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources, and she's our guest on this month's First Friday Focus on the Environment from WEMU. 

Washtenaw County will soon surpass 10-thousand acres of land protected from development.  Barry Lonik is President of Treemore Ecology and Land Services, and a long-time advocate for land preservation in the county.  Lonik is our guest for February's First Friday Focus on the Environment from WEMU.

This month's First Friday Focus on the Environment from WEMU is an in-depth examination of Proposal 3 on the November 6th Michigan Ballot, more commonly known as the 25X25 proposal for renewable energy.  The guests are Steve Transeth and Doug Jester.  Transeth is a spokesperson for the group Clean Affordable Renewable Energy, which opposes proposal 3.  Jester is a principal at the strategy and consulting firm 5-Lakes Energy.  Jester speaks in favor of proposal 3.
