The EMU Department of Athletics will be throwing the second annual 'Rock the Rec' pep rally. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Olds/Robb Student Recreation/Intramural Complex on the campus of Eastern Michigan. With basketball season just around the corner, the pep rally is designed to encourage school spirit leading into the men's and women's 2014-15 campaign.

The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday, Oct. 22, that Eastern Michigan University's men's cross country junior was named the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week after his race at the Indiana State University Pre-Nationals Invitational, Oct. 18. Fink earns the award for the first time in his career following his third MAC Runner of the Week award that he received yesterday, Oct. 21. The Maumee, Ohio native is the third Eagle to earn the award this year, as soccer's Megan McCabe and Kelsey Murphy of women's golf were also honored by the conference.

Eastern Michigan University senior Emily Dzik (Troy, Mich.-Troy) has been selected as a finalist for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award, Oct. 21. After being chosen as one-of-30 candidates in September, Dzik made the cut down to the 10 finalists. Fans can vote here for via Facebook beginning now through November 24.

Tied with Ball State University at the top of the Mid-American Conference West Division, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team has an important weekend ahead of them, facing two divisional foes. EMU (9-5-1, 5-3-0 MAC) heads to DeKalb, Ill. Friday, Oct. 24, to face Northern Illinois University (5-9-2, 3-3-2 MAC) at 7 p.m. CT. Two days later, Oct. 26, Eastern returns to the Great Lakes State to square off against rival Western Michigan University (9-6-1, 3-4-1 MAC) in Kalamazoo, Mich. at 1 p.m.

The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday, Oct. 21, that Eastern Michigan University's women's cross country athlete Victoria Voronko was named the MAC Runner of the Week after her performance at the Indiana State University Pre-Nationals Invitational, Oct. 18. Voronko has picked up the honor an outstanding 10 times in her career, as she has earned it after each of her five races this season.
