The first Friday of each month join with other WEMU friends  for live free entertainment at PJ's.
102 s. First St. Ann Arbor Mi.( corner of  1st and Huron)

 Dec. 2nd - Ramona Collins Quartet;
             Toledo’s finest jazz vocalist with her small ensemble, as swinging and soulful a singer as there is in the Midwest. Ramona appeared regularly at the Bird Of Paradise, so this is a long overdue appearance in Ann Arbor for her.
          Jan. 6th - Ron Brooks Trio w/Edie Hyde
             Ann Arbor bassist Brooks is one of the great
             veterans of the local scene. His group will
             include the extraordinary keyboardist
             Terry Lower, legendary Detroit drummer
             George Davidson, and the bright, inventive
             delightful, singing of Hyde.

          Feb. 3rd - Ben Jansson Quartet;
              Ben Jansson has been making the rounds
              lately as a premier saxophone sideman, and
              interpreting the music of Thelonious Monk with
              his small ensemble. He is a leading light of the
              local mainstream jazz youth movement.
              Personnel to be announced.

          March 2nd - Dave Sharp’s Secret Seven;
              With an electric or acoustic bass, Sharp and his
              acclaimed ensemble weaves through contemporary
              club dance, New Orleans, classic modern bop,
              mainstream jazz, and even a bit of funk mixed with
              world music or ethnic sounds. The All Music Guide described
              the band as playing “infectious and joyous music that does
              not let up or lose momentum until the final note is played”.
              The group includes saxophonist/co-composer Chris Kaercher,
              guitarists Andre Frappier, Alex Anest or Kris Kurzawa,
              drummer Eric Wilhelm, tabla player John Churchville,
              and trumpeter Ross Huff.

          April 6th - Ingrid Racine & Friends;
              The renowned trumpeter from the U-Michigan jazz
              program and Nomo fronts her band that explores
              straight ahead, funky and electrified modern jazz.
              Racine’s music is geared for the youth market, but
              never loses sight of the rich tradition that preceded her.
              Personnel to be announced.

          May 4th - Planet D Nonet;
               Drummer R.J. Spangler presents his potent and
               spectacular nine piece band, firing on all cylinders with
               a lively horn section that plays big band type jazz, from
               vintage Fletcher Henderson to bluesy Chicago style
               sounds, Duke Ellington and Count Basie charts, up to
               modernized, space age sounds of the Sun Ra Arkestra.
               Personnel to be announced.

          June 1st - Vincent York & Friends;
             Ann Arbor’s Vincent York came from New Orleans,
             was mentored in Florida by Cannonball Addlerley, and
             has played his bop style saxophone in the Duke Ellington
             Orchestra, with local legends Marcus Belgrave, Roy Brooks
             and leads the Jazzistry Project in public school systems.
