The Border-to-Border Trail in Ypsilanti was scheduled to re-open this past May after being closed for a periods of two years.  Now, it’s July, and the trail remains closed.

Helping local agencies find and repair potholes, joining the Ann Arbor Citizens Academy or attending a town hall on education. Those are a few of the engagement opportunities you have this week and those are among the topics covered by WEMU's David Fair and the CivCity Initiative's Mary Morgan on this week's edition of "Civic Matters."

If you've ever canoed or kayaked the Huron River in Ypsilanti you know that getting your boat out of the water to portage around Peninsular dam can be a challenge.  The dock was falling apart.  But on Wednesday the Huron River Watershed Council celebrates the installation of a brand new dock in Peninsular Park.

The American Hiking Society on Saturday will  host an event as part of National Trails Day.  As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports it will be an opportunity for the community to acquaint itself with the Water Street Trail and progress being made on the Border to Border Trail in Washtenaw County.
