Eastern Michigan University officials have reached out to alumni and friends of EMU to clarify the future of sports at the University.

You're the head of athletics at a mid-major university, and the football team has been struggling.  29 years without a conference title, 21 years since the last winning season.  Conversations on campus range from eliminating football to dropping a level to Division II. That's the situation facing Eastern Michigan University's Athletic Director.  How does she respond?  We find out.

If HBO has it right, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics has lost well over $50 million over the past two years.  That doesn't sit well with many on campus.  Now that the program "Real Sports" on HBO has highlighted EMU sports, the conversation is expanding nationwide.  We caught up with the vocal critic of athletic spending highlighted in the cable news report, Howard Bunsis.  


Eastern Michigan University is being criticized for spending too much money on athletics and not enough of academics.

Eastern Michigan University offers a diverse range of majors and opportunities including  a "Running Science Lab" which recently moved into Rackham Hall.  This allowed them to offer expanded services to the public with increased flexibility.

Its rare for Eastern Michigan University to cheer for the New York Mets during the baseball World Series, but they are doing it because of a local connection. Terry Collins, the current manager for the Mets graduated from EMU in 1971 and was a student athlete at the university.

EMU Football Players Help Promote Literacy

Eastern Michigan University football players scored a touchdown with kids at Adams STEM Academy Friday.

The athletes visited the school as part of a joint effort between EMU and the 2nd & Seven Foundation to promote literacy among young children.

EMU Assistant Athletic Director for Academics Erin Burdis says the kids get a lot out of these visits, and learn about the importance of reading and being a good citizen.
