This is a big week for Ann Arbor--it's Art Fair week!  Before the city gets taken over by thousands of art lovers from around the world, locals get to celebrate with the annual Townie Street Party.

I spoke with Maureen Riley, executive director of the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, about this big event.

About a thousand artists and a half million visitors are expected in Ann Arbor for the city's four art fairs.  Before art takes over the city the 10th annual Townie Street Party is Monday night.

Hundreds of people Monday night flocked to the annual Ann Arbor Townie Street Party. As WEMU’s David Fair reports, the event serves one part kick-off to the upcoming Ann Arbor Art fairs, and one part “thanks” to local residents for enduring the influx of some half-a million people over the next several days.

The Art Fairs begin this week in Ann Arbor. Tonight, locals get a pat on the back for being good sports about hosting the large crowds the  fairs bring to the downtown area. As WEMU's Bob Eccles reports,  there will be plenty to do at tonight's kick-off to Art fairs week.
